Refers to a person who experiences sexual attraction towards a person of the opposite sex or gender. “Opposite” in this context means either male or female, which are the two genders that exist within the gender binary. In general, this term describes someone who experiences both romantic and sexual attraction to someone of the opposite sex, but technically it specifically relates to sexual attraction.
